Welcome to the blog, friend

Ia Orana! That’s Tahitian for “Hello!” Our journey is only beginning — and I couldn’t be more excited to go on this adventure with you.

Welcome to this spiffy little blog, where every week I will regale you with fascinating facts about luxury travel including tips and tricks, stories, answers to all your FAQs, destination details, and inspiration for your next luxury vacation. I have answers to questions you didn’t even know you had!

(Like a spice souk — what the heck is a spice souk? Stay tuned to find out!)

And who am I?

Well, I am a luxury travel specialist from Minnesota. I have trudged through blinding white winters, walked through state fairs during horrid humidity, and come out the other end looking for a more blissful day in the sun. My agency is Sun Bliss Travel, which uses its industry connections and specialized knowledge to design magical luxury vacations for travelers who want unforgettable VIP experiences. But I am not just an agent or a (woman-led) small business owner — I’m an avid traveler myself who loves sunsets, cats, coffee and cooking. I live in Minnesota with my adorable fiancé and together we’ve built a life full of love, fun and bliss.

“We travel not to escape, but for life not to escape us.”

It might be cliche, but I love this simple quote because it’s so true. Travel connects us to the world around us and reminds us of how none of us are truly alone. The stars you gaze upon tonight are the same stars the Fijians stare at on the other side of the world; the same stars the ancients stared at in the far-flung past, and the same stars the next generations will stare at in the far-flung future. We are threads in a single tapestry and together, we create a beautiful world with so much to give. Travel connects us all.

Not long ago I felt trapped – as though someone had plucked all the feathers from my wings. I worked long hours and was constantly overwhelmed, over-stressed, and overworked. Time passed in the blink of an eye and before I knew it, seasons changed as I stood still…

And then I took a vacation to Puerto Rico, where I spent the entire time lounging on beaches listening to ocean waves, ordering pina coladas at the swim-up bar, and napping in hammocks under the shade of palms trees, all while singing “If you like pina coladas…” I hiked through the lush rainforest as it drizzled all around me, explored the cultural depths of Old San Juan, and felt the waves crash against me as I swam in clear blue waters.

It ignited a cinder inside of me that I’d long forgotten was even there — true bliss. All of a sudden, I felt alive again. That trip reawakened a real love of travel inside of me, because memories last a lifetime — sands in the hourglass don’t. Life is short and every moment matters.

We only live one life, so live it in bliss.

And that’s why I am here — to bring bliss to not only myself, but to you, the reader, who is surely ready to find their own inner bliss.

Words cannot express how grateful I am to have you reading this. The honest truth is, what’s the point of a blog if no one cares about what you’re saying? Let me make it clear: I am here for you. I am here to entertain you, listen to you, and inform you. Because the truth is, what is a blog without readers? (Psst, a diary… and I don’t need mine public, shudder)

Travel holds meaning to everyone — in different ways

Travel reminds me of many things.

— Not only of that blissful vacation in the sun, but travel reminds me of lakeside visits to Gooseberry Falls with my dad, going on spontaneous girl trips with my mom and sister, roasting s’mores at a bonfire during late-night camping with friends, and romantic anniversary getaways at cozy B&Bs with my handsome Other Half. It connects me with them over and over again, even when they aren’t present.

To me, travel means blissful memories that last a lifetime.

What does travel mean to you?

This is a two-way conversation

You are so much more than a reader. You are a potential friend, a human being with their own rich experiences and beautiful memories full of stories to share. As I take you on this journey about experiences, cultures, and dreams, I ask that you share your story with me, as well as any thoughts or ideas you’d like to see or hear about in the future. Comment below or email me to start a conversation or just to let me know what you think.

Ready for bliss?

If you are, and you love travel and you know there is more to the world for you, stay tuned!

Looking forward to our future conversations…
